Can someone help me identify what possible illness my dog has?

My dog is a German Shepherd and he is 9 years old. He shows a sad expression and seems really tired. This happened all of a sudden this morning and has been like this all day. He does not want to eat, drink, and play with my other dog like he usually does. At times, he would randomly drool.
And he has watery eyes.

Yeah someone can help you, they are called a vet. You should really call and get your dog an appointment with one.

See if it’s nose is moist, if not it’s sick. Take it to the vet, I’m sorry but I don’t know what sickness your dog has.

This really could be anything from a toxin to a serious illness. The best thing you can do is take the dog to the vet ASAP to have them run all the proper tests to make sure that ther isn’t anything serious going on. Poor dog it sounds like his tummy is very upset:( I hope he feels better soon. Good luck

My pom behaved like that when he had an abscessed tooth. But the person who CAN tell what is the matter with your dog is called a vet.

It’s hard to say without asking you a lot more questions, but my first thought was a possible stroke. Please see a vet for a diagnosis.

BRING HIM IN. he could have gotten into some poison like antifreeze or something. especially if he throws up. if you wait too long its harder to rehydrate. the other possibility could be he is dehydrated or heat exhausted which he just needs water and a cool place. otherwise it could be nothing…im just kind of a worry wart with my dogs and i always bring them in if they are acting weird.

There are too many possibilities of what could be wrong but since he is not eating, drinking and is lethargic and drooling randomly, he definitely needs to see a Vet as soon as possible! Even a Vet online or over the phone would not tell you without giving your dog an examination. The symptoms are serious, so Vet- quick!

you need to take him to the vet emetiatly call a vet to night he could have heart worms, parvo, these diesas are deadly the longer you wait the less chance he has to survive.

  12. Ani says:

That could be anything, but I would take him in to a vet. That could be something as simple as him eating too much, to something as serious as parvo or heartworms.

If he seems to feel that miserable, get him to the doc.

I do not think anyone can over the internet but I bet a vet can when you take him to be examined.

Allergies? My dog has them and he gets like that on real bad days in the summer. Other wise I notice he licks his paws and itches a lot. Also he drags his butt across the rug, and sneezes. Not all syptoms occur at the same time.

my dog Maddie went through a similar stage. she was 14, and she wouldnt do anything. we took her to the vet and they gave us bad news. her liver was actually poisioning her. at that poiint there was nothing we could do. so we put her down. she wouldnt eat, drink, or play. not even dog treats. all i can tell you is get to a vet.

It sounds like I don’t have anything new to add. You must take your dog to a vet. Those symptoms are way to broad to diagnose over the internet. Your dog could have an obstruction (from eating something he shouldn’t have), could have gotten into some toxins (there are lots of poisons to get into), could have a disease (parvo, coronavirus), problems with teeth, and the list goes on. The general rule is that if after 24 your dog has not snapped out of it, get them to a vet ASAP because this is not something that is going to go away on it’s own. If you wait too long you risk your dog becoming seriously dehydrated, you may end up paying even more in medical expenses b/c the problem gets worse, and worst case scenario is that your dog could die if it is something serious like obstruction, pancreatitis, poisoning, etc.
Good luck and I hope that your dog gets better. You should let us know what happens! I hope for the best that it is just something minor.
