How do I cook chicken for my sick(diarrea) dog?

My dog has diarrea and I took my dog to the vet, she told me to give him a diet of rice and cooked chicken. How do I cook the chicken, can anyone give me a step by step(just imagine that I’ve never cooked in my life), I dont have a thermometer so I dont know when the chicken is 170 degrees. I dont want to make my dog sicker by not cooking the chicken how I am supposed to. Any ideas please.

    Get pree cooked chicken pieces and put it in the microwave for about 45 seconds do that. and add rice thn for a snack do yoguart.

    Boil it until it’s cooked (Cut into it) so the fat gets boiled out of it.

    I hope the vet told you to make sure there are no bones in the chicken. The dog will choke on them.

    You can cook it in a pan with some water, the water will keep it moist & wont add any grease like if you were to fry it in butter or oil.

    Cut the pcs small before or after cooking & mix with the rice. It will help your dog’s tummy feel better ;)

    Like another person said, boil it. It is better for it to be over cooked, than under cooked. If it is thawed, it usually only takes around 20-25 minutes.

    Take the chicken and cut it up..put in a 2 quart sauce pan….add some rice, either minute rice or regular rice is fine, add water about inch above the food, boil until chicken and rice are done..you can add more water if needed. My dogs get sick all the time from eating stuff outside, and this will get their little belly’s back on track, and they love it! Good Luck!

    I feel you. I was in this boat about 3 weeks ago. I’d NEVER boiled chicken a day in my life!!!

    It’s best to use boneless, skinless chicken breast or the chicken breast tenders (chicken strips). In a medium to large frying pan, place the chicken and cover it with water. Let boil for a good 10-15 minutes, then remove. It’s fairly simple. :)

    Boil the boneless chicken breast until the juices run clear when you cut into the meat. And then use the same water to boil the rice.

    DO NOT use pre-cooked chicken, it will have too much salt in it for your dog.

    Once your dog is starting to feel better, you can add frozen or fresh green beans that have been cooked.

    Only use skinless boneless chicken breasts. The fat in the bones and skin will make the diarrhea worse.

    Boil the chicken in a big pot of water for about 45 minutes for 4 breasts. You need to boil it WAY more than you’d boil it for human consumption, because the slightest bacteria left in the chicken can cause problems.

    Here’s what you do.

    Place 4 large or 8 small chicken breasts in a large soup/spaghetti pot.

    Fill with cold (hot will cook it unevenly) water until about 2 inches from top rim of pot.

    Set it on the stove, and bring to a boil by putting the heat to high, and leave the pot uncovered.

    When the chicken comes to a boil, put the timer on for 45 minutes. When the timer dings, check for doneness. If any pick is still in the chicken on the inside, put the test piece of chicken back in the pot and boil for another 20 minutes. Check again, and if no pink, you’re good to go. Remove the chicken from the pot and cool.

    Most dogs need chicken and rice. I use the chicken cooking water to make my rice. Since we don’t add salt to their food, especially when they are sick, its nice to add a little extra flavor in there some other way. It won’t make it too rich, because you’re using mild, nearly fat free chicken breasts.

    Shred the chicken when it is cool. Just pull apart with your hands like it is string cheese or use two forks to pull the chicken from each other. If you chop it, it is harder for the dog to digest. Shredding it will help it slide down their esophagus and make it more comfortable in their already uncomfortable tummy.

    Serve room temperature for best results, never hot, but cold is okay.

    We cook for our Peke a lot, b/c she’s a picky eater….we get boneless chicken breasts, and just put them in water on top the stove and boil for at least an hour. Anyone can do this – I’m not a cook either, but if you can boil water, you can boil chicken. An hour will be plenty, but if it boils longer, it won’t hurt a thing. Just don’t let the water run out.

    Just preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Put the chicken in a baking dish and bake for 45 minutes. When you take the chicken out, slice it in the middle. If everything is white inside, it’s cooked fine. If it’s a little pink, put it back in the over for 10 or 15 more minutes. Chicken is cooked when it’s white.
